I was first introduced to Kent during basic training with The Buffs in Canterbury before a commission in the Royal Hampshire Regiment and service in Central Africa.  Oxford University at least taught me how to bowl while playing cricket for Jesus College.  Ordained in 1960 I served in parishes in South London and was an Honorary Canon of Southwark Cathedral.  I played cricket for Chistlehurst and West Kent for forty years in the nationwide Church Times Cup Competition.  A member of Kent since the 1980's and President of the Supporters' Club for five years, I have served as their co-opted member on this committee since 2008.  I have two sons, both of whom have proved to be better cricketers than their father, and five grandchildren.  I am married to Estelle.
