Ben, younger brother of England fast bowler Steve, arrived at the St Lawrence Ground in December 2011 after spending seven years with Durham, his home county.
The tall batting all-rounder first burst onto the scene as an England under-19 star and went on to score centuries for his county in his opening two first class matches – one of those, most notably, was against West Indies A. Ben is a useful cricketer in all forms of the game, having scored nearly 1,000 List A runs to go alongside 1,488 runs in first class cricket. His bowling will also add strength to the Spitfires side, especially in t20 cricket where he has taken 23 wickets at an impressive average of 20.47.
After failing to make a championship appearance in 2011, the 26 year-old will be looking to make a major impression on the Kent side having moved south for the 2012 campaign.
