Ben, the son of former Kent bowler Nick Kemp, signed his first professional contract with the county in readiness for the 2012 season after winning last season’s award for Best Academy Scholar.
The right-arm seam bowler joined the Academy in 2009 and made great strides last season, becoming an integral part of Kent’s second XI in all forms of the game. He returned figures of 3-25 against Surrey at Cheam in the second XI one-day Trophy to illustrate his raw talents. Ben attended St Edmund’s School in Canterbury and plays his club cricket with St Lawrence & Highland Court.
